The Crunchyroll app has been available for Samsung TVs with TizenOS since February 2024, but support depends on the device model.
Crunchyroll is available on Samsung TVs released in 2017 with Tizen 3.0 or higher. However, it’s worth noting that even some TVs released in 2017 may not support the app if they have an older version of the operating system installed, such as the NU7000 and MU6100 models, which run on Tizen 2016 and do not support Crunchyroll.

Installing the App
To install the app, open the app store on your TV, search for Crunchyroll, and install it. If you can’t find the app, you may need to update your TV’s software. The app store updates when you turn on the TV, but you might need to install the latest OS kernel updates for the app to work properly. The availability of the app may also depend on your region. In rare cases, when your IP address changes to a different region, the region information might not update immediately.
How to Cast Crunchyroll to Samsung TV from iPhone or Android
The Crunchyroll app includes a Cast option. You can cast videos to your Samsung TV using AirPlay or Chromecast. However, this usually isn’t necessary, as these technologies have been supported by Samsung TVs since 2018, which means you can simply install the app on such a TV. If you do choose to cast, make sure your smartphone and Samsung TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
How to Watch Crunchyroll on Older Samsung TVs (Pre-2017)
If your TV is older than 2017, you can still watch Crunchyroll using a few alternative methods:
- Via Amazon Prime Video — If your TV supports this service (models from 2012 and later), you can link a Prime subscription and watch Crunchyroll through it. However, some TVs from 2012 or older may not support Prime Video.
- Via streaming devices — Connect devices like Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, or Google TV and install the Crunchyroll app on them.
- Via HDMI connection — You can also connect a laptop or another streaming device via HDMI and watch Crunchyroll through a browser or app on the connected device.
Important Notes
If your TV is very old, it may not support newer content protection protocols like HDCP 2.2 or HDCP 2.3, which are required to view some highly protected, popular video content. Older TVs typically support only HDCP 1.4, which is not compatible with the newer protection standards.
