How to add words to the autocorrected dictionary on your iPhone

There are several ways to do that:

The first method:

Edit Autocorrect on iPhone. To do that, you should click on the suggestion that would be displayed in the predictive text field. After doing this, new words and spellings would be added to iOS Autocorrect.

The second method:

Accept the iPhone spelling suggestion. To do that, you should click on a space or a punctuation mark or, instead, you can also click on the word.

The third method:

In case, you have accidentally accepted an incorrect Autocorrect suggestion, you can solve this issue. To do that, you should click on delete and fill in once more the last letter of your word and the suggestion will be disappeared. In some cases, Autocorrect offers additional suggestions. It’s important to know that if you accept a lot of wrong corrections, Autocorrect may start revamping words you don’t want to be modified. In this case, you should adjust the iPhone dictionary. To do that, you should follow the steps which would be mentioned in the section below:

  • First of all, you should head to Settings.
  • After that, you should go to General.
  • Then, you should click on Reset.
  • To complete the process, you should reset Keyboard Dictionary.

How to add words to iPhone dictionary

There are several ways to do that:

The first method:

Adding a name to Contacts. This will modernize the iPhone dictionary. If the name of a person or company is in your contacts, the spelling of the name won’t be corrected by Autocorrect and, in addition to this, the spelling would be corrected in case you have mistyped the name.

The second method:

Use the Word in the Safari search field. It’s one more method to solve the issue. By doing this, you can also add some new words to your iPhone dictionary. So, it’s possible to teach iOS Autocorrect by searching for new words. After doing this, the iOS Autocorrect would be taught their correct spelling.

The third method:

Create a shortcut. It can be done to teach Autocorrect to recognize the word. If you want to create a shortcut, you should follow the steps which would be mentioned in the section below:

  • First of all, you should head to Settings.
  • After that, you should go to General.
  • Then, you should click on Keyboard.
  • Next, you should head to Text Replacement.
  • After that, you should click on the + symbol and then fill in the word you want in the Phrase field but leave the Shortcut field blank.

After you have accomplished the steps above, Autocorrect will no longer propose incorrect iPhone spelling suggestions. In case you often misspell a word that Autocorrect doesn’t notice, you can use the misspelling as the shortcut for the correctly spelt word.
