App Store adds new price points

Apple today announced a change to its longstanding App Store policy. They set strict limits on how much developers can charge their customers.

The new prices can apply to subscriptions starting today, and next spring, they will apply to app prices and in-app purchases.

Previously, developers were limited to fewer than 100 possible price points on the App Store. Previously started with a minimum price of 49 cents for subscriptions and 99 cents for apps, with a maximum price of $999.99.

Now the minimum possible price in the U.S. starts at 29 cents, with a maximum of $10,000. Along with this, added additional steps in between.

This will work in such a way that, now, almost 10 times the number of price points previously available for most apps. Also, developers will still be able to determine prices for each storefront if they wish. Also, developers will still be able to determine prices for each storefront if they wish.

Apple has also announced that this will allow developers of subscription apps to manage currency and taxes across stores more efficiently.
