- First of all, you should open the Voice Memos app, which may be in your phone’s Extras or Utilities folder.
- After you have opened the app, you would see the screen with the large red circle at the bottom. You should click on it to record a new file.
- When you have finished your speech, you should stop recording. To do that, you should click on the red square at the bottom of the screen.

How to edit and export an audio file on Voice Memos
After you have recorded the audio file, sometimes you notice that it needs to be edited. So, if you want to edit and export an audio recording on Voice Memos, you should follow the steps which would be mentioned in the section below:
If you want to change the name of a recording, you should click on the word “New Recording 1” (assuming this is your first) and click in a name.
If you want to add more to your recording after you stopped it, you should click on the three blue dots beside it, after that, you should click on Edit Recording. Then, you should move to the end of the timeline and click on Resume to recommence the recording. You should make sure that you have moved to the end, or you will be replacing audio rather than adding more to the end.
In addition to this, it is also possible to crop the edges of the audio file. It can be done via the same Edit Recording feature. To do that, you should click on the square icon with two vertical lines at opposite corners (of the square) on the top right of the window.
If you want to share an audio recording, or if you want to export it to apps or send it to others, you should click on tap the three blue dots which can be found beside a recording again, and then, you should tap on Share in order to open sharing options.
