How to display events on Google Maps

Google has been releasing an update to the Maps app for quite some time now that allows you to see the location of events scheduled in your calendar. This Android update added integration with Google Calendar, which means that whenever you’re about to map directions to a birthday party or some other event, you’ll be able to easily access the event directly from the map.

For the event to appear on the map, its address must be specified in the appropriate section of the event in the calendar. Also, the user must sign in to Google Maps and Google Calendar from the same account. In addition to the points on the map in Google Maps, you can now also see a list of upcoming events. So, here is how to display events on Google Maps.

How to display events on Google Maps

If you want to display events on Google Maps, you have to follow these steps:

  • First of all, sign in to your Google Calendar and Google Maps using the same Google account.
  • After that, enable the “Web & App Activity” settings on Google Maps. To do this, open the “Settings” menu and select “Personal content”. You will find this option under the “App history” section.

After you have added several location records to your calendar, give Maps time to fill in the data. You can then view the entries in several different ways.

How to find events on Google Maps using “Your Places”

The easiest way is to tap the “three lines” button in the upper left corner of the Google Maps app to expand the side navigation bar. Tap “Your Places” and select the “UPCOMING” tab. This tab displays all of the events that have been entered into Google Maps from Gmail and Google Calendar. Tapping on any of the entries will show it on the map so you can quickly find your route and navigate to the event.

How to find events on Google Maps using search, directions and map view

You can find events by searching for things like “My Reservations” or “My Flights” in the Google Maps app.

You can also find events on the map by simply scrolling and panning the map. Events will be labeled with the name of the location (not the name of the event), as well as the time and date of the event.

Events will also appear in “Directions”. Simply open the Google Maps app and tap the blue “Directions” button (a blue circle with a white diamond and an arrow pointing to the right in the center) in the lower right corner. Not all events will be displayed here, but only those occurring in the near future.

What are the main advantages of Google Maps

One of the advantages is that event organizers do not need to register a profile to apply for an event.

You can create templates for batch loading of events. Your partners will be able to receive templates and quickly create a spreadsheet of their events. Essentially, for most of them, this would be a simple copy and paste. These templates can then be imported into the main spreadsheet.

You can also create special Google forms that can be added to websites. Event data can easily be transferred to a master spreadsheet. For example, AirBnb added a form to their AirBnb Citizens site to help recruit people for their event.
