How to zoom out on Vizio TV explained

The Vizio HDTV has settings by default to display all channels in 1080p, i.e., HD quality. For this reason, you see all channels enlarged because of the screen settings necessary to play everything in 1080p. This can be a problem for you, as many channels still don’t broadcast their video in this resolution.

Some of them are still in the traditional 4:3 aspect ratio. This is solved by adjusting the scaling and changing them manually. However, before you start, you need to know what type of scaling settings are appropriate for a particular type of screen.

What are the different types of zoom settings for Vizio TV

There are four different types of zoom settings for Vizio TVs that you can change at any time. The following is detailed information about the differences and exactly how to apply any of the options:

  • Normal mode. Normal zoom mode assumes a standard aspect ratio. There will be no scaling, so the picture will appear naturally. For example, if you watch a channel with a 4:3 aspect ratio, you will see black bars on both sides of the screen. To return to the standard aspect ratio, switch the screen back to normal, meaning normal mode.
  • The second mode is Zoom. In this mode, the screen is only magnified when you can see black bars on either side, which depends on the aspect ratio. In this mode, some channels will be enlarged, and the rest will be displayed normally. This will be noticeable during viewing.
  • Next, you have the Wide setting. If you don’t mind a stretched image, this mode is for you. In it, the black bars on the sides will disappear.
  • Panoramic mode. In this mode, the left and right sides of the screen are stretched, and the center part is left untouched. If you’re watching a 4:3 movie with this setting, you’ll notice that part of the image is cut out.

You can use the Vizio remote control to change the zoom settings on your TV. First, turn on your TV and pick up the IR remote. Then follow the following instructions:

  3. Then go to the “Accessibility” section at the bottom of the menu.
  4. Once you’ve navigated, highlight the “Zoom Mode” section.
  5. Press the OK button to turn off zoom mode and return the screen to normal mode.
  6. When finished, press the Exit button to close the menu.

Following the above steps will return your screen back to normal. In case you want to change the zoom settings again, just follow steps 1-5 above and press the “OK” button on the remote control. Switch between the different modes until you find one that works for you.

How to solve problems with zooming if standard method doesn’t work

If you still have problems after doing all of the above, you may need to consider a factory reset. Of course, this should be resorted to only in extreme cases and when you have already tried everything else, making sure that all methods of solving the issue don’t work. Pay attention to the fact that the difficulty may be related to accessibility. You may have accidentally enabled accessibility mode because it has a zoom mode. If this is the case, in which case, try the following:

  1. First, go to “Menu”.
  2. Once you get there, find the “System” section.
  3. From the “System” section, go to “Accessibility”.
  4. Inside the last section above, select “Zoom Mode” and turn it off.

In this way, you can solve the problem with the screen zoom if the standard methods didn’t help and without resetting to the factory settings.
